UAE police dogs are trained to detect COVID-19 cases.
Samples are sniffed out by the dogs without coming in contact with the person. Figures indicate that dogs can quickly detect infected cases.
The experiment were conducted at field hospitals on volunteers in a number of areas in the UAE after taking the necessary precautionary measures to protect both the police dogs and their trainers.
A trial to see whether dogs can detect coronavirus is indeed going well, very well after previous success with spotting the scent of malaria, cancer and Parkinson's disease.
There is also a project going on with the German military. They are training German Shepherd right now to sniff out Covid-19 infections. Results at the moment show that there are 80% correct detections and there is a realistic chance that this could work for quickly detecting infected people in bigger groups.
Indeed, dogs can be medically trained to detect cancer, covid-19, malaria and other diseases. For example, cancerous cells release different waste in the human body than healthy cells. Simply by smelling your breath, a dog can detect unhealthy cells in your body.
As per Recent research, trained dogs can detect covid-19 positive persons by sniffing axillary sweat samples.
Dogs can do more than that! They can alert of an incoming seizure. They can guide the blind. They can protect property. They can detect bombs and drugs. They can help the disabled. They can be use in therapy.
Dogs have been trained to effectively sniff out an array of complexities from cancer to blood sugar levels in diabetics, and now the program is being applied to practice to detect coronavirus.
I have also heard of a robotic dog's nose that could potentially detect ovarian cancer before it advances!!
Prostate cancer is notoriously difficult to detect. The prevailing method is to check blood for elevated levels of a protein called prostate-specific antigen. Well, properly trained dogs, on the other hand, can detect it with better than 90% accuracy!
Dogs' noses are absolutely incredible. They can even smell depression in humans.
